List: Best Movie Hitmen (and Hitwomen)

In honor of the release of the Coen brothers’ “No Country for Old Men,” Entertainment Weekly created a list of the greatest hired killer characters in movies. As with all lists, it’s a conversation-starter, not ender. Some good choices, of course, especially Jean Reno in “The Professional” and Travolta and Jackson in Pulp Fiction
So glad “The Matador” got picked. Wish that film got more love in general. Visually, it’s pure dynamite and it let Pierce Brosnan show just how good he can be when he’s not bogged down by Bond-level dialogue. (Congrats on the new site … one-stop shopping for all things Movie Mom!)
This is a terrible list by Entertainment Weekly. Brangelina can’t possibly compare with the hired kidnapper killers from Fargo. Now those were great killers!
Thanks for the kind words, Christian! And Iorek, those guys in “Fargo” were not, strictly speaking, hitmen, just free-lance jacks-of-all-bad-trades. But you’re right — they were unforgettable!
