A Night to Remember — The Other Titanic Movie

On the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic this week, I want to recommend the other Titanic movie, “A Night to Remember” with Clifton Webb.

Many thanks to photographer Ron Cogswell for granting permission to use this image via Flickr.
For shame Nell, keep em staight: “Titanic” (1952), with Clifton Webb and Barbar Stanwyck was the Fox Hollywood version; “A Night to Remember”(1958) with Kenneth More, based on the book by Walter Lord, was the definitive British version (until James Cameron went to work.)
Two bits of trivia on “A Night to Remember”:
> A small amount of footage in the film was recycled from Titanic movie produced by the Nazis in 1943.
> Look for “NCIS”‘ David McCallum as a radio operator.
> Look for Bernard Fox as the lookout who spots the iceberg. He appeared in Cameron’s “Titanic” as Colonel Gracie.
Of course you are right! Many, many thanks for a great comment, Kevin.
