For the first time ever, the global phenomenon known simply as TED — with talks about ideas that are transforming the world — is coming to movie theaters worldwide in partnership with By Experience. On February 15 in North America and February 16 for the rest of the world, the general public will have the previously unthinkable opportunity to experience the “opening night” of TED’s legendary annual conference, alongside its equally legendary VIP audience. Hosted by TED’s curator Chris Anderson, the approximately 90-minute theatrical screening of this event will debut the first evening of TED2016: Dream (taking place in Vancouver, Canada from February 15-22), featuring world-renowned thinkers, artists and storytellers who will share their “ideas worth spreading” about the greatest dreams we are capable of dreaming. What emerges is a spirit of wonder and optimism that represents the world at its best.
Tonight’s featured speakers include:
• 10-year-old writer Ishita Katyal will share her dreams for the future she is inheriting.
• Futurist Astro Teller from Google will paint a gripping picture of the future that he and his team are inventing.
• Riccardo Sabatini, will talk about the future of identity in the age of genetics.
• TV mega-producer Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” “How to Get Away With Murder”) will share her ideas about reviving passion for work and family.
• Dan Pallotta, one of TED’s all-time all-stars, will inspire with a talk on the power of dreaming.
• Plus spectacular performances from legendary choreographer Bill T. Jones and superstar composer AR Rahman.
