The “Airplane” Guys Are Back With Ads Touting Their Home State of Wisconsin: Go Cheeseheads!

My friend Robert Elisberg always has a delightful selection of treats on his blog, almost always items I never see anywhere else.  I loved his post about a new series of ads for Travel Wisconsin from the zany guys who made “Airplane!”  David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker, originally from Milwaukee, spoofed their own spoof in the ads and got some old pals to help out.  Even the blow-up guy.  Of course, they are hilarious.

P.S.  I’ve done a lot of traveling through Wisconsin, and it is well worth a visit!

Honey Maid Graham Crackers and Beta Brands Decide to Put Real People in Ads

Many thanks to Jezebel for highlighting these great new ads.  Honey Grahams emphasize their wholesomeness with an ad that pays tribute to a range of happy, loving families.

And Betabrand has women with PhDs modeling its line of “smart fashions.”  This is great news just as a new study has shown that playing with Barbies, even “career” Barbies, causes girls to have a more limited notion of what their job options are.  (For some reason, though, not Mrs. Potatohead.)  It’s nice to know that girls and women — and boys and men — will look at ads like these and see the unlimited possibilities life offers them.
