Holiday Movie Moments

I love Kris Rasmussen’s list of favorite holiday movie moments from Idol Chatter. Some of my favorites are included and I was especially happy to see one most people overlook, the Cary Grant/Katharine Hepburn movie “Holiday:” Made by the same team behind the classic “The Philadelphia Story,” it is a rare chance to see Grant show off his acrobatic skills.

  1. I wasn’t wild about some of the choices on Idol Chatter (Elf, Home Alone) but I do agree with her approach of picking holiday moments in what are otherwise non-holiday movies.
The movie Holiday (referring of course to a different kind of holiday) is a great one, and the scene you picked has great poignance despite its happy resoltuion. But my favorite scene from Holiday is still that sad scene at the new year party, with the Strauss waltz and the party sounds in the background, when Cary Grant tells Katherine Hepburn he is going to surrrender.
