MVP of the Week: Amy Adams

MVP of the week is Amy Adams, who stars in two of the fall’s biggest releases, both in theaters this Friday.  In “Trouble with the Curve” she plays the estranged daughter of Clint Eastwood, a baseball scout who is losing his eyesight.  She joins him on his last road trip as he is evaluating a gifted but arrogant young hitter.  And in “The Master,” she plays the wife of a charismatic cultish leader played by Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Her breakthrough role was in the independent film “Junebug.” She was nominated for an Oscar for her performance as a young pregnant woman.  (She plays a very different pregnant character in “The Master”).  In “Enchanted,” she was indeed enchanting as a fairy tale princess from an animated story coping with modern-day Manhattan.  I am a huge fan, and I think my favorite of her performances is as the gritty, tough, resilient girlfriend of boxer Micky Ward in “The Fighter.”
