I am thrilled to be included in this magnificent book, a collection of essays by women about food, with recipes. My essay is “My Life in Six Cookies.”

When we think about the biggest milestones and roadblocks in our lives, we also remember the food we cooked and/or ate while getting through them. Because we’re human. And pretty much always hungry. This book will be the literary equivalent of a heart-to heart over a warm slice of coffee cake. A bunch of kick-ass women writers, illustrators, and photographers share their deepest struggles, their silliest moments, their deepest revelations, and, of course, their favorite recipes.

Contributors include Merrill Markoe, Nell Scovell, and Cathy Ladman. It is, I have to say, delicious.

Sisterwritereaters will be available in May and can be pre-ordered now!

Movie Mom Interview on Expressive Mom Blog

Posted on March 28, 2017 at 8:19 pm

Many thanks to Expressive Mom and Miriam Slozberg for interviewing me about the three questions I get asked most often: Why do most movies about children have one or both parents dead or otherwise out of the picture? What do I do when they say, “everyone else at school got to see it?” And what do I do when my child/teen wants to watch the same movie over and over (and over and over)? Check out the interview for my answers.

Andy Blood Interviewed Me About…Everything

Posted on January 21, 2017 at 8:26 pm

Thanks to Andy Blood for interviewing me about my favorite movie of the century (so far) and my thoughts on corporate governance, movies, politics, and culture.

Movies are not just a way to pass the time. They are a way to connect to ideas and situations and characters who challenge our assumptions and make us see the world in a new way. I like to remind people who read my reviews that movies are just the beginning of a journey of exploration and imagination and give them some ideas about where that can take them next. Plus, it gives me a chance to recommend some of my favorite books and movies and museums!

Movie Mom Media Appearances

Posted on June 1, 2016 at 3:06 pm

Many thanks to The Timo Show for inviting me on to talk about movies and the challenges parents face in trying to find good movies for kids — and keep them away from the ones that are not good or not good for them.

I always have a great time with the guys at Motley Fool Money, and this time was especially fun because we had a live audience.

And I also appeared in the New York Times and Washington Post on some corporate governance issues in the last week.
