Lionsgate/HIT Entertainment announce a new narrator for this fall’s upcoming feature-length Thomas the Tank Engine DVD release, “Thomas & Friends: The Great Discovery.” Following the wonderful voiceover work from Ringo Starr, George Carlin, and Alec Baldwin is this glamorous leading man.
Remington Steele is the new narrator! Cool! I have always been amused by the choices made by LionsGate. They have softened the likes of Carlin, Starr, & Baldwin. My own son was amazed that “The Conductor” from his early Thomas days became the Cardinal boosting “Buddy Christ” in “Dogma”. He was even more amused when I played for him “The Seven Dirty Words You Can’t Say on TV”.
I have heard the new DVD and Brosnan does a wonderful job! All of their choices have been unexpected and excellent.
Wow, how time flies. My kids are now teenagers. When we enjoyed Thomas, Ringo Starr was the narrator. Hard for me to imagine George Carlin having been in the role of narrator, but, hey, if it worked, it worked.
It has always made me giggle a little thinking about George Carlin narrating Thomas… my husband & I saw him on our honeymoon in Vegas over 15 years ago, and he sure doesn’t seem the type, but he does a wonderful job. Ringo & Alec don’t seem the type either, but they are both terrific as well. And now I’m sure Pierce Brosnan is going to do a great job also! Looking forward to hearing his interpretation!
