‘Fame’ Update: Meet Kay Panabaker

I am really looking forward to the new version of “Fame” and one reason is the talented Kay Panabaker. Her work on television series like “Gray’s Anatomy” and “Boston Legal” has been very impressive and it looks like “Fame” will give her a chance to show much more of what she can do. I love this clip, especially when she explains that she is completely comfortable making a fool of herself!
For my money, Shorofsky was the Dumbledore of the music world. He made the show and held it’s spirit. The performers were wonderful and the stories were typical rags to riches. But Shorofsky (Albert Hague) was the one who knew and understood the true heart of the school, its faculty, and the students. If I could be anyone from that movie or show it would be him. I hope they find a new Dumbledore – uh, Shorofsky for this new version.
Interesting! Most people focus on the Debbie Allen character (she plays the principal in the new version). I think the Shorofsky equivalent in this one is going to be played by Charles S. Dutton, who is always terrific. And I am really happy to see one of my favorites, Bebe Neuwirth, in the cast as well, along with her “Frasier” co-star Kelsey Grammer! It’s going to fly!
For some reason, my moniker did not make the trip last night in my comment above. It did not many of the trips to other comments on B’net last night
Charles Dutton is indeed an excellent replacement for the late Mr. Hague (who was in both the movie and the show – like Gary Burghoff and MASH). Bebe Neuwirth will be quite the addition. This will be an astounding movie. So do you think they will spin a TV show from the movie? Perhaps it will be competition for Glee?
