Movies for Women’s History Month 2017

Posted on March 14, 2017 at 3:54 pm

Check out my previous suggestions for Women’s History Month, with feature films and documentaries about great women.

It’s also a great excuse to learn about pioneering women in the movie industry including:

Mabel Normand, Dorothy Arzner, and Ida Lupino, among the first women directors.

Francis Marion, Anita Loos, Adela Rogers St. Johns, and Vera Caspary, who wrote movies in the early days of Hollywood.

Edith Head, eight-time Oscar winner for costume design, including “Roman Holiday,” “A Place in the Sun,” and “To Catch a Thief”

Thelma Schoonmaker, long-time editor and creative partner of Martin Scorsese.
