‘Night at the Museum 2’ Press Conference, Part 1

Yesterday, I attended a press conference at the historic Smithsonian Castle and had the immeasurable and almost-surreal pleasure of sitting opposite Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais, director Shawn Levy, and screenwriters Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, who were in Washington DC to talk about the sequel to the unexpected blockbuster “Night at the Museum.” This one is set in the world’s biggest (and in my biased opinion, best) museum complex, the Smithsonian Institution. I will be posting more shortly, but as a starter, here’s a short clip with Amy Adams talking about her role as Amelia Earhart and Levy talking about what he wants children and their families to learn from the film.
As a diehard museum freak, I loved the first “Night…” It fed all of my childhood fantasies about life in the Museum after the doors were locked. Many of my childhood memories are of the Metropolitan in NYC. But my heart is with the Smithsonian Museums (there are more than one for the neophytes). This movie ought to be awesome – I am going to see it on IMAX for the full dose! So to which museum should they go next? The British? The Louvre? Or did Langston beat them there?
I adore museums, too, jestrfyl, and feel very lucky to live near the Smithsonian. I stopped by to see the ruby slippers and the first ladies’ gowns yesterday after the press conference. Someone asked, of course, where they’d like to go with the next one, and Stiller made the same point you did, that “Da Vinci Code” took over that territory.
