Contest: Rowing Movie “Backwards” with James Van Der Beek

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 8:00 am

I’m thrilled to be able to give away a DVD of the new film, “Backwards, ” now available on iTunes, DirectTV, Walmart, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble.

It’s the story of Abi Books , a fiercely competitive rower who fails to make the Olympic team for a second time and reluctantly takes a job coaching rowers at a high school where her boss happens to be her ex-boyfriend .  When given a chance to rejoin the Olympic team, Abi confronts the personal sacrifices and professional choices that impact the world of athletes with Olympic ambitions.  This is an inspiring story that asks the question, what happens when you’ve spent your life working towards a dream and you don’t make it?  How do you move forward?  Shot in Philadelphia, the film showcases some of the city’s best known landmarks including inside the Philadelphia Museum of Art, on the “Rocky Steps,” along the Schuylkill River and Boathouse Row.

To enter, send me an email at moviemom@moviemom.com with “Backwards” in the subject line and tell me what sport you enjoy most.  Don’t forget your address!  I’ll pick a winner on February 28.  Good luck!

Contest: Abel’s Field

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 10:20 am

Abel’s Field” is the story of high school senior Seth McArdle (Samuel Davis), left motherless by tragedy, abandoned by his father, and under enormous pressure to support his little sisters. At school, he endures the daily bullying of the football team. When he fights back, he’s singled out for punishment, assigned to an after-school work detail under the supervision of a reserved groundskeeper, Abel (Kevin Sorbo). Much to his surprise, Seth discovers that Abel may be the only one who truly understands his struggles. As dark times lure Seth towards desperate measures, the reluctant Abel may be the one person who can point him back towards the light.  I’m delighted to have a copy to give away.  Send me an email at moviemom@moviemom.com with “Abel” in the subject line and tell me something you hope for in the new year.  Don’t forget your address!  (US addresses only.)  I’ll pick a winner on January 30.

Contest: Pitch Perfect

Posted on December 26, 2012 at 8:00 am

My last contest of the year is a BIG one!  I have five copies of the delightful Pitch Perfect to give away!  I didn’t love the movie, primarily because of some unnecessary gross-out humor.  But I do love the brilliantly talented Anna Kendrick and I loved seeing her handle the lead role with such wit, heart, talent, and pure star power.  The musical numbers are sensational — and the movie includes the magnificent Rebel Wilson.

If you want to win one, send me an email at moviemom@moviemom.com with “Pitch Perfect” in the title and tell me the best gift you GAVE this holiday season.  Don’t forget your address!  (US addresses only.)  I’ll pick a winner at random on December 31.  Good luck!
