Lulu2.jpgSilent star Louise Brooks had an iconic bob haircut that gave her image a power and vitality that almost a century later still seems both classic and contemporary. Two movies opening this month give us heroines with hairstyles that hark back to Brooks’ sleek look.

And in the new Indiana Jones movie, Cate Blanchett sports a bob for her role as one of the movie’s villains.cate%20blanchett.jpg

  1. The funny things is I can’t think of a single Bob who wears his hair this way. Nor would it be an effective design for a fishing line float – a “bob”. There is no good etymological explanation for the word either, except it means short or shortened. What a curiousity!

  2. Good trendspotting … wish I were so observant. Wonder if regular folks will try the bob based on these characters … Trixie’s role in “Speed Racer” may be too negligible to have an impact, but that might not be the case for Cate’s “Indy” role.

  3. You noticing the only way I’d like to find out there another trend, is just enough to find out you see things in a way that only the, “blinded by the light” freaks show off.
