The Top 100 Animated Films of All Time: The Animators Pick

Posted on April 22, 2014 at 3:59 pm

Time Out New York asked top animators to pick the greatest 100 animated films of all time.  All the Disney, Pixar, and Miyazaki classics are there, plus some surprises.  I have some disagreements, but am entirely in favor of the #1 pick.

  1. I can’t help but be bewildered by the inclusion of Ralph Bakshi’s Lord of the Rings, currently my pick for the second worst animated movie I’ve ever seen (behind The Legend of the Titanic), not least for the fact that it was released unfinished, with no prior publicity of that detail, and was a horrendous adaptation of the source material comparable to David Lynch’s Dune even if it had been completed.

Also kinda disappointed that Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Perfect Blue weren’t a lot higher.
