Exclusive Clip: Lee Meriwether in “Breaking Legs”

Posted on April 25, 2017 at 10:28 pm

We are delighted to present this exclusive clip from “Breaking Legs,” a teen dance competition movie (starring real teens, not actors in their 20’s pretending to be teens). It’s available now on VOD and DVD.

When new-to-town freshman Bloom meets her classmate Harmony, it’s loathing at first sight. Bloom just wants to dance, but the only place to strut her stuff is the school dance team…captained by none other than the number one mean girl herself. When Harmony’s boyfriend falls for Bloom, what starts out as unfriendly competition quickly becomes an all-out war. Bloom’s only shot at her chance to fit into this new school and get on the dance team is to win the Honor Girl top prize. But not even her best friend or her uncle – who is trying to contend with his boss – can help her. And Harmony won’t concede the competition or her boyfriend without a fight!

“Breaking Legs” stars Liv Southard (“Good Enough,” “Horror Haiku”) as Bloom, a high school freshman who has just moved to a small town where the only place to dance is the school’s dance team. Alexa Sutherland (“Sweet/Vicious”) plays the role of Harmony, Bloom’s nemesis, who is willing to go to any length to keep her biggest competitor off the team.

Rounding out the cast is William Leon (“Play by Play”) as Bloom and Harmony’s love interest, Sarah Rochelle (“Offer and Compromise”) as Bloom’s best friend, and Richard Riehle (“Office Space”) as the school’s atypical principle. Mark Marchillo, who also wrote/directed and choreographed the film, stars as Bloom’s aimless uncle. Chris Kattan (“A Night at the Roxbury,” “Saturday Night Live”) and Lee Meriwether (“The League,” “Barnaby Jones”) also star.

Writer/Director and choreographer Mark Marchillo says: “Breaking Legs is a fun, funny and quotable movie that teens and tweens will relate to. We thought it important that the film’s characters ring true, with teenage actors playing their real ages. It’s a kick-up-your-heels kind of entertainment, with a lot of heart for every age. I hope everyone enjoys Breaking Legs as much as we enjoyed making it.”

Premiering Tonight: Great News

Posted on April 25, 2017 at 3:02 pm

Tina Fey and Robert Carlock are the producers of “Great News,” from their “30 Rock” colleague Tracey Wigfield.  It’s the story of a television news producer and her mother, who becomes an intern on her show.  And it’s adorable. Here Wigfield and her real mother talk to Briga Heelan and Andrea Martin, who play versions of their real-life relationship on the show.  The whole cast is terrific, including John Michael Higgins, Horatio Sanz and (yes) Nicole Ritchie.

It premieres April 25, 2017 on NBC.

Disney’s “The Descendants” was an immediate smash, with one of the biggest audiences ever for a cable movie on its premiere and over 100 million viewers since then. “High School Musical’s” Kenny Ortega was behind the smart and engaging story of the children of some of Disney’s most popular characters, including good guys like Belle and the Beast and villains like Cruella De Vil, Jafar, and Maleficent. find their place in idyllic Auradon. When the pressure to be royal becomes too much for Mal, she returns to her rotten roots on the Isle of the Lost where her archenemy Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen of the run-down town. Uma, still resentful over not being selected by Ben to go to Auradon Prep with the other Villain Kids, stirs her pirate gang including Captain Hook’s son Harry and Gaston’s son Gil, to break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon, and unleash all the villains imprisoned on the Isle, once and for all.

Stars include Dove Cameron (“Liv and Maddie”), Cameron Boyce (“Jessie”), Sofia Carson (Hollywood Records recording artist, “Adventures in Babysitting”), Booboo Stewart (“X-Men Days of Future Past”), and Mitchell Hope reprising the roles of Mal, Carlos, Jay, Evie and King Ben, respectively. Farm”) as Uma, the daughter of Ursula; Thomas Doherty (“The Lodge”) as Harry, son of Captain Hook; Dylan Playfair (“Some Assembly Required”) as Gil, son of Gaston; and Anna Cathcart (“Odd Squad”) as Dizzy, daughter of Cinderella’s evil stepsister Drizella and granddaughter of wicked stepmother Lady Tremaine.
