Trailer: Mary, Queen of Scots

Posted on July 12, 2018 at 10:36 am

This looks stunning, and a good reason to brush up on the history before December. Saoirse Ronin and Margot Robbie play the rival queens, Mary, Queen of Scots and Queen Elizabeth. In real life, they never met, some say because Elizabeth was afraid she would be unable to maintain her resolve in the presence of the legendarily charismatic Mary. Perhaps she was right — whose name is in the title of the movie?

Their story has been filmed before, most recently in 2013 and also in 1971 with Vanessa Redgrave.

Trailer: Tea With the Dames — Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Joan Plowright, Eileen Atkins

Four grand dames (and British Dames) of the theater: Dame Eileen Atkins, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Joan Plowright and Dame Maggie Smith.

They’ve acted together (and, I imagine, competed with one another) and get together now and again to talk over old times. “Tea With the Dames” allows you to spend time with these acting legends as they remember their professional experiences across theatre, television and film.
