“Worth a Mention’s” Howie Weed” reports that a number of remakes are in the works. New versions of “Total Recall,” based on a Philip K. Dick story, “Clash of the Titans,” and “The Never-Ending Story” are all in the works.
The upcoming “Race to Witch Mountain” is being billed as “a “modern re-imagining” of 1975’s “Escape to Witch Mountain, not a remake. I’m looking forward to seeing the actors who played the children in the original in cameo appearances.
Which remake do you wish had never been released? Is there a movie you’d like to see remade?

Adorable Golden Retriever puppies Rosebud, Buddha, Budderball, B-Dawg, and Mudbud return in Space Buddies, an epic adventure that takes them to the moon, to be released on DVD . Moving at warp speed, dodging asteroids and more, the Buddies and their two new friends, Spudnick, a sweet bull terrier and Gravity, a resourceful ferret, must summon their courage and ingenuity to launch plans for a moon landing and a rocketing trip back home. Will they have the right stuff?

The movie slate for 2009 has some upcoming family-friendly releases that look very promising.
“Inkheart,” based on the book by Cornelia Funke and opening January 23, stars Brendan Fraser as a man who has the power to bring the characters from books to life.
In March we have “Race to Witch Mountain,” not a remake but a sort of semi-sequel to the Disney classics Escape to Witch Mountain and Return from Witch Mountain. Duane “The Rock” Johnson plays a man who has to protect two children with mysterious powers from the bad guys who want to capture them.
I am really looking forward to the April release of the new Hannah Montana movie!
And of course we’re already counting the moments until Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, coming out in July.
