Veronica Mars Movie Funded by Kickstarter

It’s the ultimate fan dream come true! The fans of the Kristen Bell television series Veronica Mars have come together on Kickstarter to raise more than $2 million to make a feature film.

I am currently the happiest blonde in a hamster ball the world has ever seen. We have been waiting so long to make this movie dream a movie reality, and it’s because of YOUR commitment, YOUR persistence, that we finally have a chance. We just have one more step to go.

You have banded together like the sassy little honey badgers you are and made this possibility happen. i promise if we hit our goal, we will make the sleuthiest, snarkiest, it’s-all-fun-and-games-‘til-one-of-you-gets-my-foot-up-your-ass movie we possibly can.

I promise to give it my all. i promise to work my hardest to give everyone a little bit more Veronica, and i will be oh so honored to do so.

I only ask for one thing in return.

If I ever die, do me a favor. Go on Oprah and tell the world that I loved kittens.

A Lost Song from “The Music Man”

“The Music Man” is my all-time favorite musical, so I was especially intrigued by this great blog post by Bob Elisberg about the “lost song” from the show. It is hard to imagine that a musical that seems so organically perfect went through a trial-and-error stage — and a good reminder that it is the only way to create something so perfect it seems effortless.

Fred Astaire Dances on the Ceiling — And Glee Pays Tribute

I held out longer than most but am now among the many whose enthusiasm for “Glee” has wavered. But you know I loved this week’s tribute to classic songs from movies. The “Top Gun”/”Risky Business” mash-up was fabulous. And I got a special kick out of Will and Emma paying tribute to Fred Astaire’s classic dancing on the ceiling number from “Royal Wedding.”

That was filmed by creating a room that rotated. It was also the inspiration for this video from Lionel Ritchie:

Bindi Irwin Stars in Hallmark Channel’s “Return to Nim’s Island”

Bindi Irwin, the 14-year-old daughter of wildlife enthusiast Steve Irwin, stars in “Return to Nim’s Island,” a Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere on Friday, March 15 (8 p.m. ET/PT, 7C).

“Return to Nim’s Island” kicks off Hallmark Channel’s new Walden Family Theater, created by Walmart, P&G, Walden Media and ARC Entertainment. “Return to Nim’s Island” is based on the novel Nim at Sea by Australian author Wendy Orr and is the sequel to the 2008 action-adventure international box office hit “Nim’s Island.” In “Return to Nim’s Island,” Nim (Irwin) and her father Jack (Matthew Lillard; “The Descendants,” “Scream”) discover that greedy resort developers plan to buy their beloved Nim’s Island and turn it into a tourist destination, endangering the local wildlife. So Nim takes it upon herself to recruit some animal allies in her battle against the forces who care more about profitability than morality. One of her assistants includes Selkie, a savvy sea lion and Nim’s best pal. Selkie winds up getting kidnapped by a fisherman and his sons (John Waters, Sebastian Gregory, Jack Pearson) who intend to sell her. Nim realizes she can’t depend on her animal cohorts alone and relies on her first human friend, Edmund (Toby Wallace), to help save her home. Along with Jack’s intern, Felix (Nathan Derrick), Nim and Edmund work together and try to defeat the developers and save the beloved island and its endangered species.
